Press Release-- Members of the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) have elected new executive council members to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
Those elected as new exco members of the outdoor advertising umbrella body are Charles Chijide, managing director of Charella Nig Ltd who emerged president by scoring 35 votes against his main rival in the poll Mr Emeka Okezie who garnered eleven votes only.
Elected unopposed are Messers Dozie Mbanefo and Emmanuel Ajufo who are Publicity Secretary and Assistant Secretary General respectively.
Similarly, the association has elected un-opposed the ex- official members who are: Mrs Ify Onukwuba, Mr Ladi Taiwo, Tunde Adedoyin and Tunde Oyekan respectively.
However, the positions of the vice president, secretary general and treasurer are still vacant as those who indicated intention for these posts at the initial stage failed to meet qualification guidelines. The positions are however billed to be filled in not too distant future through a bye-election.
While handing over the reins of power to his successor, the out-going president, Mr. Kole Ademulegun at a well attended gala night held at Golden Tulip hotel, Festac, Lagos thanked all OAAN members for the wonderful support they gave him these past four years.
He specifically noted the challenges which the industry had passed through but expressed joy at the level of achievements within the period. Some of the achievements include: the commencement and completion of OAAN building which will serve as its permanent secretariat. It is due for commissioning soon. The Ademulegun exco also bought a brand new 18 seater passenger bus for its operations as well as purchased a 27KVA Generator. It also refurbished its secretariat and fully computerized all its operations. Ademulegun said all these achievements were made possible due to support and co-operation of all members as he enjoined them to extend similar gesture to in- coming exco.
In his acceptance speech, the new president, Mr. Charles Chijide thanked all members for their overwhelming support as demonstrated through their votes. He however promised not to disappoint them, saying that the new exco will take the association to the next level. Chijide also extended hands of fellowship to all members with a view to building a stronger and vibrant industry which will be an envy of all.
No fewer than seven new companies were admitted into the fold of the association as corporate members and were charged to be law – abiding and keep to OAAN rules and regulations as a sectoral body of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria. (APCON).
